Clarksville Schools serve about 39,500 K–12 students, many of whom rely on school meals during the year. During Summer break, access to nutritious food becomes limited for some.

Stuff the Trailer is a food donation drive that helps fill the gap by distributing food bags at select elementary schools during the summer months when school is not in session.

What is Fuel 4 Kids?

Fuel 4 Kids is a food subsidization program designed to feed those children whose only food source may be the food they are receiving at school. History shows children fed by our program experience increased academic scores, are better citizens in the classroom, and are more likely to come to school every day.

Partnering with schools in our community, specific foods are gathered and placed into grocery style bags. The bags are then delivered to schools and placed directly into the backpacks of the children. The children are selected by the schools, not based on income, but on signs of hunger.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the children selected?
School administrators are taught to look for signs of hunger in children. What used to be seen as greedy child is now seen as a hungry child. This is just one example of the signs of hunger; a child who asks more food in the lunchroom.
The food is gathered by Mosaic Church. Mosaic Church allocates funds to purchase the necessary food, as well as, receive donations of food throughout the year through various initiatives like Serve Day and Stuff the Trailer.
The children are very discretely called to a quiet area of the school , at the end of the last day of school each week, and the food is slipped into their backpacks. Preserving the dignity of the child is extremely important.

Each weekend food bag includes 16 items:

  • 2 proteins – example: beef jerky, slim jim, tuna in a pouch
  • 2 grains – example: crackers, pretzels,
  • 2 juice boxes (100% juice)
  • 2 snack items
  • 2 dairy items – example: pudding in a cup, Horizon Organic Shelf Stable Milk Boxes
  • 2 fruits – example: fruit cups
  • 2 cheeses – example: cheese sandwich crackers

Mosaic Church partners with Minglewood Elementary, New Providence Middle, and Northwest High Schools to help eliminate child hunger in our community. On a weekly basis, food items are packed into bags weekly, to include a personalized note from Mosaic Church, a team member will then deliver the bags to each school. The school representative will place them directly into the backpacks of the children.
